Counseling is a process in which many people gain strength and healing through our working together to identify and address life's challenging situations. I take a holistic approach to therapy and assist individuals in realizing their strengths and goals, while identifying thoughts and behaviors that will lead to desired outcomes and growth.
I earned a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My experiences prior to private practice therapy include work in the school system, residential treatment facilities, and in the non-profit arena. I have completed training in the Trust-Based Relational Intervention. I use this model in sessions with teens and parents, as well as in my own life as a parent to biological, adopted and foster children. I have a special interest in how couples and family units interact and care for each other, and have pursued couples and affair recovery continuing education through the Gottman Institute. I am additionally trained in EMDR, family, group, and grief and loss therapies and I earned my Certificate in Trauma Therapy. Faith is a resource in my own life, and I am very comfortable incorporating this into my sessions with clients who desire to include it.
